OIART Mentor’s Cafe at Canadian Music Week 2011

OIART proudly hosted the Mentor’s Café Sessions at this year’s Canadian Music Week in Toronto. Visitors to the Mentor’s Café had the chance to get up close and personal with key industry players who were open and available to share their expertise in areas such as A&R, Marketing, Social Media, Production, and many other areas related to the music industry.

People lined up for the OIART Mentor's Cafe

The roster of over 70 guest mentors included:

Rebecca Teal & Susan Rosenberg of Live Nation (the world’s largest concert tour promoters)

Barbara Sedun, Head of Publishing EMI Canada (Alexisonfire, Billy Talent, Three Days Grace)

Rod Kukla, A&R American Recordings (renowned producer Rick Rubin’s label)

Chris Douridias, Music Supervisor for film and Program Director KCRW

Another CMW highlight for OIART was faculty member Dean Nelson’s appearance as a speaker on the Producer’s Panel. Thanks to all of this year’s mentors who took the time out of their busy CMW schedules to share their knowledge and skills. Special thanks also goes out to our co-hosts Catherine Moore (NYU Music Business Faculty), Simon Kellerman (Syndication Operations Manager, Vevo), and Gary Taylor (Canadian Music Week, Gary Taylor Management). In addition to our Mentor’s Café, OIART faculty member Dean Nelson spoke on the CMW Record Production Panel on Saturday.
